Looking for some fun fall activities you can do with your toddler? We are going to be sharing some fun ideas!

As the weather starts to cool off, the leaves begin to change color, we start getting all excited for all the cozy weather things. Summer time is full of all sorts of fun activities but with the change in weather, comes a change in activities. You may be looking for some inspiration, or maybe are struggling with what to do with your toddler. We are sharing some ideas we have loved in our household with a toddler and the fall time!
This is a post all about fall activities with toddlers.
5 Fall Activities For Toddlers
Baking
As mothers and homemakers we spend a fair bit of time in the kitchen. If your toddler is anything like mine, they are probably right there with you asking questions, trying to “help” and getting into everything. Having them join you and make a special recipe together is a great cozy activity that helps them feel included. A favorite recipe in our home is a ginger molasses cookie. This not only has the fall flavors that we all love, but its a simple recipe to bake with kids. Our favorite part is being able to spend together after they’re baked eating a warm cookie with milk. Does it get any cozier than that?
Pumpkin Painting
Anything pumpkin is fun in the fall time! However, we can make a pumpkin that much more fun by adding a tactile or sensory element to it. Painting a pumpkin using both brushes and fingers is a great way to get your toddler really “feeling” the fall time and exploring their world.
An extra step to this would be to go pick out a pumpkin at the pumpkin patch first!
Apple Picking
I wish I lived closer to an apple orchard like the ones I grew up next to. Taking your little ones apple picking allows for so many activities following the initial one. Going to the orchard and picking apples is an experience and activity all on it’s own. However, once you bring the apples home, you can make apple sauce, apple pie, apple bread, and more! You can include your toddler in the process of making apple sauce or juice or some mini muffins.
And of course, once you have made something, you also get to spend time together enjoying the fruits of your labors!
Bonfires
I can’t think of a more sensory, cozy, fall time activity to do than having a bonfire. Roasting marshmallows, drinking hot chocolate, cuddled under blankets, and all the coziness! This is the type of activity your children will remember for the rest of their lives. They are the activities that get imprinted on their hearts and minds. Slowing down as a family or maybe with some friends as well, and just enjoying the crisp fall air, the crackling of the fire, and some delicious goodies makes for some of the best moments.
Walks
This may seem like a very simple activity, yet it can be overlooked in the busyness of life with young children! Just taking the kids outside in the fresh air and to get some movement, is not only highly beneficial for them but for us as well. I know I do a lot better when I’ve gone for a walk with my kids. Everyone benefits from being outdoors. We love to load up in our stroller and go for longer walks. But sometimes we go on a shorter walk and I have my toddler walk as well. This not only gives her exercise and is great for her but it also allows us to slow down a bit. Walking at her pace and allows her to explore and to take in the nature around her a little more than she does when she is in the stroller.
I hope this list has been helpful in either inspiring you or simply reminding you of some simple ways that we can take in this season with our little ones. Fall is my favorite season, and many of these activities have become my favorites, especially since having my own kids to do them with!
