This is the second letter basket of our tot school alphabet curriculum! This post will include information about the basket as well as extra supplementary activities that can accompany the unit!

Starting Tot school or preschool with your little one can be very daunting, especially when it comes to deciding what is the best curriculum to use. This curriculum is a combination of Montessori and classical education. If this sounds like something that interests you, keep reading!
I have more information on the style behind this curriculum style, read my post introducing the curriculum series here!
Tot School Alphabet Curriculum – Letter Basket B
Letter Baskets are designed to do a focus study on one letter at a time. You can choose to complete a letter basket in two days or two weeks! Whatever works best for you and your child and whatever pace they need to fully grasp the letter and concepts.
In this unit we will be learning skills such as:
- Letter name and sound
- Fine motor skills
- Sensory play
- Tracing
- Capital and Lowercase recognition
- Animal facts
- and so much more!
However, we can’t have too many activities, can we? In this post I’m going to be sharing some extra activities that you can do with this letter basket unit!
Letter Basket B Extra Activities
#1 Bunny Rhyme
- “See the little bunnies sleeping, till it’s nearly noon.”
- “Shall we wake them with a merry tune?”
- “They’re so still, are they ill?”
- “Wake up soon!”
- “Hop little bunnies, hop, hop, hop” (repeat 3x)
- “Hop little bunnies, hop and stop!”
#2 Bunny and Bee Sensory Bin
Get some bunny figurines and toy bumble bees (or soft ones!) Fill a sensory bin with paper shavings, or rice, or pompoms or whatever else you want! Add in some rocks as well to add to the experience and sensory elements. Allow your child to explore!
#Make a Bee Hive
Make a beehive using paper, paint, and bubble wrap! Here is a great description and example of how you can make this with your child!
#Textured Bunny Painting
Draw the silhouette of a bunny rabbit. Allow your child to paint it using a variety of tools instead of a paint brush! You can use pom poms, dish scrub, q-tips, bubble wrap, spoon, even a toy bunny rabbit that hops all over the bunny! Be creative and use any number of items!
I hope this can give you some ideas of what you can do to expand on this unit and make it more interactive and fun for you and your child!
