Are you planning to be traveling for the holidays with your toddler? I have a few tips that might help make the trip a little smoother for you!

Traveling with toddlers is not for the faint of heart. It is hard. Even if your child is happy the whole time, it is still a lot of work! There are things you can do to avoid some of the tough things with kids.
Traveling with Toddlers
Tip #1: Snacks
Depending on where you are going and the time of year, flying typically means an early morning. The last thing you want is a toddler who is tired AND hungry. Bring lots and lots of snacks.
Some of our favorites are yogurt pouches, chomps sticks, goldfish, and protein bars. Make sure you have a variety of snacks that travel well too.
Tip #2: Activities
Bring some new toys or activities that your toddler hasn’t seen or played with before. It has worked best for us to take them out one at a time on the trip. She can explore them individually. This really helps to pass the time and keep her busy and distracted.
Tip #3: Patience
One of the biggest thing to understand, is that they feel just like you do but without the understanding, life experience, concept of time, etc. It is so important to have grace and patience with them. It’s a big experience for little people! I couldn’t imagine being on a flight with no concept of time!
Tip #4: Low Low Expectations
I have fond as a rule of thumb with toddlers and traveling it is best to have as low of expectations as possible. This helps to set them up the right way as well as yourself! Don’t put too much pressure on either of you.
Traveling with toddlers is hard work. But there are ways to make it through the trip (for both of you) with a positive experience and outcome!
